Note: This will be brief because this wiki doesn't focus on the company.
Nintendo was originally founded in 1889, as a playing card company. They continued to sell these cards until the 1960s, when the company started doing services as a television station, a rice food chain, and more.
It was in the 1970s that he company hired Shigeru Miyamoto, who was talented at art. When arcade video games were beginning to rise, Nintendo decided to join in the party, and came out with some (unfortunately unsuccessful) games such as Sheriff. However, in 1981, their video game business boomed with the release of Donkey Kong, which would then switch Nintendo entirely to video games.
Throughout the next 15 years, Nintendo became very successful with its NES and SNES consoles, and several new and prosperous game series. It was in 1996 that Nintendo joined into the venture of 3D, with the release of none other than Super Mario 64 on the Nintendo 64.
Since then, Nintendo has been making very successful games, and even in 2004 a remake to Super Mario 64.
